Years became decades.

Decades slowly became a lifetime.

For King Zain, time marched forward without mercy.

Kingdoms rose.

Kingdoms fell.

Borders shifted beneath blood and banners.

The young warrior who had once ruled with nothing but steel in his heart became one of the greatest kings his people had ever known.

His enemies remembered his victories.

His people remembered his justice.

History remembered his name.

Yet history never knew the truth hidden beneath the crown.

Every victory...

Every celebration...

Every quiet night...

His heart returned to the same place.

A moonlit garden.

A girl from another world.

And an impossible blue rose.

The palace changed with the years.

New towers were built.

The walls grew stronger.

Children born during the first years of his reign became parents themselves.

Generals who had once stood beside him grew old.

Some passed away.

New faces filled the royal court.

Only one thing never changed.

Every evening, after the affairs of the kingdom had ended...

King Zain walked alone into the royal gardens.

The servants learned never to disturb him.

They watched from a distance as their king removed his royal gloves and knelt in the soil like an ordinary gardener.

His sword rested against a nearby tree.

His hands, once stained by war, became stained with earth instead.

He planted.

Pruned.

Watered.

Waited.

The royal gardeners often found strange experiments hidden among the flower beds.

White roses grafted to crimson stems.

Rare flowers brought from distant kingdoms.

Seeds collected from mountains, deserts, and forgotten valleys.

No one understood why.

Until one elderly gardener finally asked.

"Your Majesty..."

"Why search so tirelessly?"

Zain looked toward the setting sun.

"I'm searching for someone."

The old man smiled sadly.

"Someone lost?"

The king's eyes lingered on the roses.

"No."

He answered quietly.

"Someone waiting."

Years passed.

Still...

No blue rose bloomed.

White roses.

Golden roses.

Deep crimson roses.

Even pale lavender blossoms.

But never the impossible flower.

Many urged him to give up.

"It is only a legend."

"It cannot exist."

"Nature does not create blue roses."

Each time...

He answered with the same quiet certainty.

"Then I shall keep believing until nature changes its mind."

The years carved silver through his dark hair.

Fine lines appeared around his eyes.

The armor he once wore every day became heavier.

Yet his spirit remained unbroken.

One evening, standing beneath the oldest rose arch in the garden, he unfolded the square of blue silk she had left him.

Though decades had passed...

The embroidery remained beautiful.

His fingers traced every thread.

Softly...

Almost like a prayer...

He whispered,

"Nahla..."

The wind stirred the roses.

"I promised I would remember."

His eyes lifted toward the sky.

"And I have."

Before the final winter of his life...

King Zain summoned the palace stonemasons.

He brought them to the oldest corner of the royal garden.

The place where she had disappeared beneath the blue storm.

He pointed toward a weathered stone beside the rose bushes.

"Carve these words."

The old mason bowed respectfully.

"What shall I write, my king?"

Zain smiled faintly.

The same gentle smile only the roses had ever seen.

He spoke slowly.

"So time itself cannot erase them."

When the carving was finished...

He placed the blue silk beneath the roots of the oldest rose bush.

Then he whispered,

"If fate is kind..."

"...the roses will carry my promise where I no longer can."

Centuries passed.

Kingdoms disappeared.

The magnificent palace crumbled into ruins.

Its towers fell.

Its banners turned to dust.

Its gardens vanished beneath wild vines and ancient stone.

The name of King Zain faded into forgotten history.

Only fragments remained in old books.

A king.

A ruined fortress.

A legend about an impossible flower.

But Nahla never stopped returning.

Life moved around her.

University ended.

Seasons changed.

The modern world hurried endlessly forward.

Yet every chance she found...

She climbed the familiar hill.

The ruins welcomed her with quiet silence.

Sometimes she carried books she never opened.

Sometimes flowers.

Sometimes nothing at all.

She simply sat among the stones.

Listening.

Hoping.

Remembering.

People believed she loved history.

Only she knew...

She was visiting someone.

One evening, the sky burned with brilliant shades of gold and crimson.

Warm light spilled across the broken fortress.

A gentle breeze carried the scent of rain.

Nahla wandered toward the place where the old royal garden had once stood.

Then...

She stopped.

Her heartbeat echoed loudly inside her chest.

The little rose bush she had discovered months before had grown taller.

Its branches were stronger.

Its leaves shimmered beneath the evening light.

And at its center...

One flower had finally opened.

A rose unlike anything the world had ever seen.

Every petal glowed with a rich sapphire blue.

Not dyed.

Not painted.

Naturally...

Beautifully...

Impossible.

For several seconds...

She forgot how to breathe.

Slowly...

She walked forward.

Then dropped to her knees beside it.

Tears blurred her vision.

Her trembling fingers brushed the delicate petals.

They were cool.

Soft.

Real.

A sob escaped her lips.

"You did it..."

she whispered through tears.

"You kept your promise."

As she looked closer...

Something beneath the bush caught her attention.

A weathered stone.

Half hidden beneath twisting roots.

Curious, she gently cleared away the soil.

Letters slowly emerged.

Ancient.

Faded.

Yet still readable.

Her hands began trembling.

She leaned closer.

For Nahla.

May the roses find you when I cannot.

— Zain

The world around her disappeared.

She stared at the inscription in complete silence.

Then...

The tears came.

Not quietly.

Not gently.

Years of longing broke free all at once.

She lowered her forehead against the ancient stone.

Holding the blue rose close to her heart.

"You waited..."

she whispered.

"You really waited for me."

The wind moved softly through the ruins.

The blue rose swayed gently beside her.

Almost...

As if someone had answered.

News of the mysterious flower spread quickly.

Scientists arrived first.

They searched for explanations.

None satisfied them.

Botanists examined the petals in disbelief.

No one understood how such a rose existed.

Soon...

Tourists filled the old fortress.

Photographers traveled across the world to capture its beauty.

Lovers tied ribbons nearby and made impossible promises beneath its petals.

People began calling it...

The Rose Beyond Time.

To them...

It became a symbol of hope.

Of impossible love.

Of promises that outlived history.

But to Nahla...

It was never a legend.

It was him.

His promise.

His patience.

His unwavering heart.

Every time the wind touched the petals...

She remembered his voice.

Every time the flower bloomed beneath the morning sun...

She remembered his smile.

The smile he had learned because of her.

As the sun disappeared beyond the horizon, Nahla gently cradled the blue rose in both hands.

Her tears still fell.

Yet this time...

They carried gratitude as much as sorrow.

She looked toward the fading sky and whispered,

"My King..."

"I never stopped loving you."

"Not for a single day."

"Maybe this life wasn't meant to let us stay together."

"But if souls truly meet again..."

"I will search for you in every lifetime."

"In every world."

"In every century."

"And when I find you..."

She smiled through her tears.

"I'll choose you all over again."

The evening breeze carried her words across the ancient ruins.

The blue rose swayed gently beneath the fading light.

And somewhere beyond time...

Beyond life...

Beyond every impossible distance...

Two hearts that fate had separated still belonged to one another.

Because some loves are never measured by the years spent together.

They are measured by the years they continue to wait.
